April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players who have earned medals more than once at an Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. In addition, Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. The next opportunity she gets to do so at the age of 39. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly within reach. Ross was quoted on NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. Also, I'll take the chance to have chance. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister resided there. Ross played in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitter on the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play in the year 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. Actually Ross has won a number of significant tournaments during her time together with two other partners. One is a volleyball legend. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the world stage. The duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball medal at Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She was a player in high school, and even some years before she hit the beach as a professional. She had a great run during her time in college. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2000 as a young freshman. In 2000, her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to make it back as an All-American. Through her two final years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title every time. She had established her place as a legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball levels. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie continues to be an inspiration on and off of the beach.
